Venous Mapping

Clinical details

64-year-old male patient with history of bilateral saphenectomy.

Summary of findings

64-year old male patient with history of bilateral saphenectomy referred for imaging scheduled for second coronary bypass grafting after venous bypass occlusion. In this case, the steady-state images were essential for the treatment planning and were used for the second coronary bypass grafting.

Description of images

Equilibrium phase MRA with Gadofosveset is acquired for venous mapping of potential venous bypass grafts. Note that the proximal saphenous veins were removed bilaterally. In addition, the left saphenous vein served already as bypass in the first operation (surgical clip; red circle). Parts of the right saphenous vein are still intact and are easily identified on the steady-state images (arrows).
